Swamp Scrub Recovery Program:Threatened species in our backyard The HDLN together with local landholders and the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) has just completed a major project focused on Swamp Scrub and the threatened orchids found within this vegetation community. Please click here to download our fact sheet about Swamp Scrub and find out why it's so important. The Program started in late 2008 and officially concluded on September 30th 2009.
The Program has achieved some amazing outcomes, including discovering new threatened orchid populations and undescribed species, and directly resulting in the protection and enhancement of more than 100ha of Swamp Scrub and associated vegetation. Watch this space-all the outcomes of the project will be further communicated in the near future. Swamp Scrub along the Curdies River, Curdievale The Recovery Program may have officially finished, however if you want to know more or have Swamp Scrub on your property, please contact the HDLN office on 5598 3755 to be referred on to the right people who can help with your enquiry. Watch this space-Upcoming Swamp Scrub Workshop Plans are underway for a workshop to be held locally that will give you the opportunity to get some hands on learning in how to record local plants & wildlife & get them entered into important State-wide Databases. Plus you'll find out more about this fascinating and misunderstood vegetation community-and possibly see some threatened orchids and some of our undescribed plant findings for yourself. Watch this space and local media for further details of this event.
